The Trailer for 'THE FIREFLIES IN THE GARDEN' starring Ryan Reynolds & Willem Defoe!

Dennis Lee's directorial debut The Fireflies in the Garden has finally received a US release date over three years after its film festival premiere. The movie premiered back in 2008 at the Berlin International Film Festival & now will finally reach US audiences this October with a never-before-seen cut of the film. Michael Taylor [Ryan Reynolds] is an author who has channeled his painful childhood memories into his novels. With some reluctance, he is flying home for his mother Lisa's [Julia Roberts] college graduation. After a lifetime of putting everyone else first, stroking her husband's [Willem Dafoe] massively insecure ego and raising her children in spite of that, it's Lisa's turn. What should be a moment of great celebration turns into a tragic reunion when Lisa is killed in a car accident, leaving father, son and family to pick up the pieces. The movie also stars Emily Watson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hayden Panettiere & Ioan Gruffud. Hit the jump to check out the trailer.

Synopsis: "To an outsider, the Taylors are the very picture of the successful American family: Charles (Willem Dafoe) is a tenured professor on track to become university president, son Michael (Ryan Reynolds) is a prolific and well-known romance novelist, daughter Ryne (Shannon Lucio) is poised to enter a prestigious law school, and on the day we are introduced to them, matriarch Lisa (Julia Roberts) will graduate from college—decades after leaving to raise her children. But when a serious accident interrupts the celebration, the far more nuanced reality of this Midwestern family’s history and relationships come to light."
