Universal are finally moving ahead with their big screen adaption of the Battlestar Galactica franchise. Transcendence scriptwriter Jack Paglen has been brought in to provide the script. The studios initially had planned some years back for Bryan Singer to direct the adaption. The TV Show was originally created by Glen A. Larson & began with the TV series in 1978, followed by a brief sequel TV series, Galactica: 1980 two years later. A re-imagined version of Battlestar Galactica aired as a two-part, three-hour miniseries developed by Ronald D. Moore & David Eick in 2003. The miniseries led to a phenomenally & justly well-recieved weekly television series, arguably one of the greatest TV shows ever made which aired up until 2009. A prequel series, Caprica, aired in 2010. A two-hour pilot for a second spin-off series Blood & Chrome, aired in 2012. Paglen is no stranger to science fiction as has been drafted in to script Ridley Scott's still-untitled sequel to Prometheus. There are no details out there on this new Battlestar Galactica but Variety state that Universal will be rebooting the franchise from scratch & the big screen adaption will not take place within the canon of either the original series or the more recent reboot.
