Things are definitely taking shape with Ridley Scott's Alien prequel this weekend. Earlier today it was revealed that Polish cinematographer Dariusz Wolski would be using Epic Red 3D Cameras for the Prequels and various other crew credits are appearing online. Now we have serious signs that H.R Giger is returning to the franchise. In an interview with Swiss television, Giger's wife [Carmen Scheifele] confirmed on Swiss tv that her husband is onboard for Ridley Scott's 3D "Alien prequels".
"World-renowned artist, HR Giger originally created his legendary Alien designs in 1979. Ridley Scott is now planning an [Alien] prequel, Giger is at it again...Giger's wife revealed in an interview that her husband will be back in charge of the sinister design to the planned Alien prequels. HR Giger, creator of the Alien creature for the 1979 film by Ridley Scott, will be working once again with the director. This was confirmed by the wife of the Swiss artist, Carmen Scheifele, on the TV show "Glanz & Gloria" on Swiss television. Her husband was "on board ", "said Scheifele. It would certainly be a 3D movie, but probably two. The plan is a prequel that tells the story before the first Alien movie."
The rumor of Giger returning to the franchise has been around for some time, in fact Scott stated way back in May: "Yeah, he's [Giger] still around. Once I get more serious and get going, and the big wheels start turning, we'll certainly talk. And maybe we'll come up with something completely different." This is great news for the Prequels. Giger won an Oscar in 1980 for his Alien design but what stands out here is the fact that Madam Giger is referring to Alien Prequel in the plural i.e two. Its possible with the speed of news circulation on original reports that translation has suffered but it looks now despite recent disparates over whether there is one movie, there may be as originally stated by Ridley two.
