PAUL WALKER linked to "TERMINATOR-Reboot" ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER Still Involved

Well the rumor mill is out churning all sorts. There are "reports" that the next installment of the Terminator will reset the clock on the whole franchise, pretty much discarding four movies and return the focus on the original characters from James Cameron's original movie. Characters not Cast. Paul Walker [Fast & Furious] is also being attached to the role of Kyle Reese. Hit the jump for the details.

We heard the talk that Arnold Schwarzenegger was returning to the franchise, but his recent affairs predicaments have delayed his return to the moving picture industry. One would think this may delay any future Terminator project. Not when there are Dollars to be made! WhatsPlaying reports the following:

"While Schwarzenegger may not be yet ready to return to film, considering recent events, and has temporarily put his Terminator reprise on hold, Ellison and are still keen to get going on the movie. From the sounds of things, the big guy does have a fairly substantial role in the new story - which is said to involve that original timeline being torn, again - but this Terminator would mostly be anchored by a new, younger male lead (Paul Walker’s name keeps coming up - could he possibly be Lin’s pick for Kyle Reese?). Oh, and I think that’s where the rumors of the ‘original cast returning’ come into play - though it’s not so much the original cast as it is ‘the original characters’ from the original movie. Geddit? Like J.J’s Star Trek. What may happen, I’m told, is the creative crew might lessen Schwarzenegger’s screentime in this movie, so it’s less work and less of a commitment for him and thus, it’ll be easier to talk the big guy into doing something this year - - as opposed to whatever year he feels he’s ready to return to acting."

I understand the whole Star Trek reboot model but that is a seriously loved and nostalgic show which can carry that level of re-imagining. I think any step in that direction on the original Terminator Film will look like a bad TV movie. They are just rumors for now but I think Walker & Lin are more suited to be rebooting The Waltons.
