JOSH BROLIN WANTS TIM BURTON TO DEVELOP A HUNCHBACK

Warner are teaming up Tim Burton with Josh Brolin to bring The Hunchback of Notre Dame to the big screen. The studios are also bringing on board scribes Kieran and Michele Mulroney [Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows]. Hunchback, a 1831 novel by Victor Hugo, tells the story of hunchback poster boy "Quasimodo", a deformed and hunchbacked bell-ringer of the Norte Dame cathedral who tragically falls in love with beautiful gypsy named "Esmerelda". The book was first adapted in 1905 into a film titled Esmerelda then in 1997 Disney created the animated movie, an action-heavy picture starring Mandy Patinkin [forever being mistaken for Robert de Niro in my world] and Salma Hayek. Brolin is taking the reins under his Brolin Productions banner where he will star and produce the picture hoping to lure Burton's dark ass into the directors chair. While Burton is interested his commitment is dependent on the quality of the script. Mm well taking in what Burton has considered as a quality script in the last 5 years this should be no problem. Jokes aside this is a very sad story, the Film that is. News via THR.
