GARETH EDWARDS REVEALS HOW MAKING [GODZILLA] FEELS LIKE DESTINY

Writer/Director Gareth Edwards recently revealed a little information on his version of that fat angry Asian, Godzilla. Speaking with Empire Edwards revealed his initial response to being propositioned with handling such a slimy filthy nonsensical farce of a project. "When I got the call from my agent, I was in my bedroom and right in front of me by my DVD player was the 1954 Godzilla. He asked, 'Are you a fan?' And I said, 'Yeah, I'm looking at him right now.' It was incredible." The thing that’s so interesting is that Godzilla has evolved since the original one in the ‘50s, so there is the opportunity to bring it up to date. But we want to stay true to the fanbase as well and I’m a fan of the Toho films. Everyone's got a very strong opinion about Godzilla and what it should be." I do I think he should be annexed to some benign terrestrial channel where story does not really matter, because lets face it Godzilla really has one story which has been told 28 times, but saying that Edwards is a talented maestro and a real humdinger of a bloke around the town and certainly the kind to buy the first round of drinks. Do you know the name "Godzilla" is the combination of two words? Gorilla and Whale, you what springs to mind? Dumb fish. Yes a Whale is a mammal, but is it right to profit from the fears that many Japanese held about the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and possibility of recurrences? Well that there is where Dumb Fish originated. Sorry Gareth, [we know its a Studio project.]
