Studios have been making films under alternate titles for a long time as a means to distract and throw off public and journalist interest. Paramount used the name Darlings to keep prying eyes at bay while the filming of JJ Abrams' Super 8 was taking place, and while it's apparently being released here under Super 8, Paramount Brazil is strangely still touting the film as Darlings.
No word on whether or not this will stick, but we'll keep our eyes open. When the trailer first came out for J.J. Abrams' Super 8, however, the title sounded very legitimate, as the film is based on a group of teenagers who film an alien on their super 8 camera. But now we find out that the movie's new title may in fact be Darlings. MovieWeb has found a Brazilian trailer for the film, which is exactly the same as the one released back in May, only instead of having the title Super 8 at the end, it's labeled Darlings..
