British model & newcomer Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was yesterday revealed as the
female lead & star of Transformers 3. One of her employers, the underwear brand Victoria's Secret
issued a special video -congratulating her for "winning" the role.
Whiteley,
23, had been widely tipped to take over from Megan Fox, who left the role of Mikaela Banes earlier this month. Fox
insisted it was her own decision to walk away from the franchise although Paramount suggested it had called time on the actresses involvement.
It is not yet known which role Whiteley will play, but she will be the love interest of Shia
LaBeouf's -Sam Witwicky, who once again finds himself at the centre of a battle
between rival clans of giant robots in the blockbuster series. The new film is set
for release in July 2011 and follows the huge box office success of the
first two movies, which have taken more than $1.5bn globally. It will
star Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand and John Malkovich.
Fox
had angered her director Micheal Bay after declaring in press interviews for Transformers II that her
role did not require a great deal of "real acting". That assertion may
yet come back to haunt her yet.
