Shiloh Fernandez [Red Riding Hood] has been cast as the male lead in directors Fede Alvarez upcoming big-screen remake of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead. Lily Collins had dropped out as the female lead over scheduling leaving Fernandez the only confirmed cast member. Alvarez scripted the remake with screenwriter Rodo Sayagues. Diablo Cody came in & revised drafts. Original producing partners Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell [who starred in the original movie] & original director Sam Raimi will produce. Variety report that Ghost House Pictures partners Joe Drake & Nathan Kahane will executive produce. In this retelling, five friends hole up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead. A demonic force is unleashed possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival. The movie will begin production soon in New Zealand & will hit theaters April 12th 2013.
