Even before The Hunger Games has been released, Lionsgate have greenlit the second installment in Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games trilogy. The studios had announced a release date for the sequel Catching Fire last August as November 22nd 2013. Today it has emerged that Oscar-winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy [Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours] has been hired to script the adaptation for Collins' second book. TheWrap also reports that director Gary Ross who also co-wrote The Hunger Games adaption is working alongside Beaufoy & will return to direct the sequel. Also confirmed to return are Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson & Liam Hensworth.
