Sony have pushed a sequel to Salt into development Deadline report. The original was initially written as a "Bourne Identity-style" vehicle for International Movie Star Tom Cruise until he eventually bailed on the project. In step Angelina Jolie and Edwin A. Salt became Evelyn A. Jolie starred as CIA operative Evelyn Salt who, after being accused of being a Russian spy, went on the run in an attempt to prove her innocence. Jolie is expected to reprise the role for the sequel. Kurt Wimmer [Sphere] writer of the original [Brian Helgeland performed an uncredited rewrite] has been drafted in by Sony to pen the sequel. The original made $293.5 million worldwide so Sony are expected to Trilogize® this damn thang.
