[INCEPTION] & [THE SOCIAL NETWORK] TAKE HOME TOP SCREENPLAY HONORS AT WRITERS GUILD AWARDS 2011


The highly respected Writers Guild Awards for 2011 were awarded last tonight. The Social Network and Inception were among the winners during simultaneous ceremonies in NY and LA. 


Christopher Nolan's Inception beat Black Swan, The Fighter, The Kids Are All Right and Please Give in the original screenplay category. Adam Sorkin's The Social Network screenplay beat 127 Hours, I Love You Phillip Morris, The Town and True Grit in the adapted screenplay section. Notable Oscar nominees The King’s Speech, Winter’s Bone, Toy Story 3, and Another Year failed to qualify under the Guilds selection process.

Steven Zaillian, writer of Schindler's List, Gangs of New York and Awakenings among many was presented the Laurel Award for Screen, honouring lifetime achievement in outstanding writing for movies.
