Anne Hathaway is "attached" to star as the title character in the remake of Barbarella. The news comes via Pajiba who tweeted via their source, The Hollywood Cog. The remake has been struck in development hell for a long long time. Machete director Robert Rodriguez tried to kick start the remake back in 2007 with his then girlfriend Rose McGowan in the lead but Universal Studios backed out of the deal blaming 'financial issues'. The 1968 original was directed by Roger Vadim and starred Jane Fonda as space ranger "Barbarella", who despite her sexy appearance and tight outfits, had a prudish attitude to life until she found herself sexually awakened during her mission to rescue Dr Duran Duran. "Attached" is by no means a concrete affiliation but we shall see. Updates as they happen.
