LEONARDO DICAPRIO TAKES ON JFK ASSASSINATION PROJECT [LEGACY OF SECRECY]

Leonardo DiCaprio will star in & produce the adaptation Legacy of Secrecy for Warner Bros. & his Appian Way production company, according to Variety. The book, written by Lamar Waldron and Thom Hartmann, takes a closer look at the assassination of John F. Kennedy and purports that Mafia boss Carlos Marcello confessed to ordering the assassination of the President.
Leonardo DiCaprio would star in the movie, playing FBI informant Jack Van Laningham, who was positioned by the FBI to get close to Marcello and become his confidant as part of a long-stemming undercover operation. The book includes newly de-classified files which includes Marcello's confession to Van Laningham and also indicates that the Mafia also played a role in the assassination of Martin Luther King and the Watergate scandal. Warner Bros. is also retaining documentary rights to the book, with Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way to produce one of the documentaries. A screenwriter hasn't been attached to Legacy of Secrecy yet, although Warner Bros is considering a possible 2013 release for the movie, which would line up with the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination.
