Hollywood are honing it to the films adapted from Swedish author Stieg Larsson's 'Millennium' series [The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo]. The deity are seriously questioning could breakout star Noomi Rapace receive an Academy Award for her portrayal of the author's anti-hero 'Lisbeth Salander'? Hit the jump for the details.
The adaption hit European theaters in 2009 and American distributor Music Box Films released director Niels Arden Oplev's adaption of The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo in LA theaters in March, ergo Rapace's portrayal is eligible. Music Box Films have hired Melody Korenbrot, to promote the Swedish actress for a Best Actress nomination. Rapace's new agents [UTA] and managers [Magnolia] are "marketing" her as the new Marion Cotillard. Both actresses are easily compared, both breakout Europeans who emerged on the radar in a small foreign film. Rapace landed in LAX this weekend & has been taking meetings with directors, producers & studio execs. Warner Bros' Greg Silverman wants locked down for Sherlock Holmes 2, Paramount's Marc Evans is said to be targeting Rapace for a role in his Mission Impossible 4. The actress also was meeted & greeted by Brett Ratner. The most interesting report is that Rapace met with and told Ridley Scott [and Scot Free's Michael Costigan] & that Rapace stated that she "grew up on his films when she left home at 15." Scott is most likely currently looking for lead actresses and with the films he has on his slate their is really only one that requires personal meetings at this stage, Alien Prequel. Rapace also met McG to discuss This Means War. McGis looking for a villain. Studios have been quoted as saying "They're originally meeting her expecting this hard-ass on a Harley wearing leather." But she's nothing like Lisbeth. They're shocked to find this delicate soft spoken actress with a sharp wit & sense of humor. Rapace would in my mind be perfect for Alien Prequel.
