Tom Hardy will play the lead in the feature film adaptation of Ubisoft's best-selling video game franchise, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. The highly successful game adaption hit shelves back in 2002 & followed the adventures of Sam Fisher, a covert operative assigned to a top-secret National Security Agency branch called the Third Echelon. The game spawned several sequels including, most recently, Tom Clancy's Spinter Cell: Conviction released in 2010. A new game, Blacklist will arrive early next year. Hardy is currently shooting Mad Max: Fury Road. Variety report Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell does not yet have a director, but Eric Warren Singer [The International] is on script duty. The project is Ubisoft’s second major movie based on one of its franchises that they’re looking to get on the big screen after setting up Assassin’s Creed at New Regency & Fox.
