Ridley Scott wants Michael Fassbender for his next film, Cormac McCarthy’s 'THE COUNSELOR'!

Successful author Cormac McCarthy’s [The Road, No Country for Old Men] first screenplay The Counselor got sold last month & a lot of directors voiced their interest. Ridley Scott entered talks a few weeks ago & Deadline now report that Scott will helm The Counselor as his next film. Scott is even considering casting one of his Prometheus stars Michael Fassbender. The script is described as "No Country for Old Men on steroids" & follows a respected lawyer who thinks he can play the drug business without getting sucked in. He soon finds he’s in over his head & tries his best to get out of a desperate situation. Scott hopes to begin production on May 1st.  Producer Steve Schwartz has said the following about the script: "Since McCarthy himself wrote the script, we get his own muscular prose directly, with its sexual obsessions. It’s a masculine world into which, unusually, two women intrude to play leading roles. McCarthy’s wit and humor in the dialogue make the nightmare even scarier. This may be one of McCarthy’s most disturbing and powerful works."
