Benedict Cumberbatch Lands the Villain Role in J.J. Abrams' 'STAR TREK 2'!


Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast as the main Villain in J.J. Abrams' Untitled Star Trek sequel. The 36 year-old English actor has a TV & film career that dates back a decade, but he is best known for his critically-acclaimed role in hit BBC series Sherlock & can currently be seen in Steven Spielberg's War Horse & the adaptation of John Le Carré's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, which opens nationwide this Friday. He's also been cast to portray the dragon Smaug & voice the Necromancer in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit movies. J.J.Abrams' Untitled Star Trek Sequel is set for a May 17th 2013 release. Benicio Del Toro was tapped to play as the main villain in Abrams’ sequel to the 2009 hit. Then Edgar Ramirez Jordi Molla were under consideration for the same role before Variety confirmed Cumberbatch for the role.
