Warner Bros have released the official synopsis for Alfonso Cuaron's sci-fi thriller Gravity. The movie which seemed destined to never get made has probably received more attention for its revolving door of lead actors: Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively, Naomi Watts, Marion Cotillard, Carey Mulligan, Sienna Miller, Abbie Cornish, Rebecca Hall & Olivia Wilde were all in the frame for the female lead before Sandra Bullock took the bullet;). Robert Downey Jr was originally attached to star, but left the project to later be replaced by George Clooney who lets face it, we love in space. In a recent interview Clooney had the following to say about the movie: "A satellite blows up and space junk causes damage. We go out in space suits, and she and I are tethered together, floating through space. It’s a two-hander with only two actors in the whole film. It is a very odd film, really. Two people in space. No monsters. It’s more like ’2001′ than an action film. Sandy is the lead. And she is beautiful in it. We have known each for way over 20 years. It’s fun to work with her." Gravity is tentatively set for release November 21st 2012. Hit the jump for the details.
Synopsis: "Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space."
