J.J. Abrams 'STAR TREK 2' gets a Composer, Release Date & possibly Benicio Del Toro!

Award winning composer Michael Giacchino will officially be returning for J.J. Abrams' untitled Star Trek sequel. The composer stated to ComingSoon: "Yes, I'll be back," Giacchino revealed at a home video release event for Super 8. "I'll be there just as soon as they finish it." The composer did of course score Abram's 2009 Star Trek. Deadline also report that Paramount have scheduled a release date of May 17th 2013. This ensued just after Sony pushed back the release date for Roland Emmerich's Singularity [2013] from that day to November 1st 2013. Previously, Star Trek 2 was slated for a June 29th 2012 release. Abrams also revealed to MTV that rumors of Benicio Del Toro being considered for the role of the villain in Star Trek 2 were true. "Well, we're just in negotiations, we're in discussions. It's not even negotiations, just in discussion. But I would love to work with him. I've wanted to work with him for years, and this felt like a good opportunity." When questioned about what role he has offered to Del Toro, Abrams insisted, "It's too early to talk about what the role is, but he's such an amazing actor. He's so versatile. He could sort of do anything." Updates forthcoming.
