French film studio Gaumont will launch its international television division this October with a development slate that includes Hannibal, a one-hour drama from Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller. Hannibal centers on Thomas Harris' classic The Silence of the Lambs character Hannibal Lecter, the brilliant psychiatrist & cannibalistic serial killer played by Anthony Hopkins. The series is said to focus on the doctor's younger years, his rise as a serial killer meaning essentially the storyline is thought to be based around events in Red Dragon, the prequel to The Silence of the Lambs. Bryan Fuller is executive producing with Martha De Laurentiis, who produced Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, & Red Dragon. Gaumont International Television are also developing Madame Tussaud, based on the book by Michelle Moran, which focuses on the illustrious French woman's life as an artist, businesswoman, and entrepreneur.
