Magnolia Pictures have released the first official domestic trailer for Lars von Trier's psychological drama-cum-disaster movie Melancholia. Written & directed by von Trier Melancholia stars Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Alexander Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, John Hurt, Stellan Skarsgård, Udo Kier & Jesper Christensen. Award-winning cinematographer Manuel Alberto Claro DFF [Reconstruction], production designer Jette Lehmann [Flame & Citron] & costume designer Manon Rasmussen [Dancer in the Dark] all take their places the other side of the lens. The movie focuses on Justine, [Dunst] a woman suffering from an extreme case of clinical depression & Michael [Skarsgård] as they celebrate their marriage at the home of her sister [Gainsbourg] & brother-in-law [Sutherland]. Meanwhile a planet, Melancholia, is heading towards Earth. Melancholia is playing TIFF, the New York Film Festival & Fantastic Fest. Synopsis: "Justine (Kirsten Dunst) and Michael (Alexander Skarsgård) are celebrating their marriage at a sumptuous party in the home of her sister Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg), and brother-in-law John (Kiefer Sutherland). Despite Claire’s best efforts, the wedding is a fiasco, with family tensions mounting and relationships fraying. Meanwhile, a planet called Melancholia is heading directly towards Earth."
