Stephanie Szostak has been cast in Universal Pictures adaptation of the Peter M. Lenkov graphic novel, R.I.P.D., published by Dark Horse Comics. THR earlier reported the actress was in negotiations now Variety reports that Szostak [Gimme Shelter] has been cast as the female lead in R.I.P.D. opposite Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon & Jeff Bridges. Robert Schwentke [Red] directs the project with a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Hit the jump for the details.
Synopsis: "The story of R.I.P.D. follows a cop killed in the line of duty who is recruited by a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department. He [Ryan Reynolds] then tries to find the man who murdered him."
Szostak had a small role as Paul Rudd's exasperated girlfriend in Dinner with Schmucks, this year she’ll have a small role in Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo. R.I.P.D. is slated to hit theaters on June 28th, 2013.
