BRENDAN GLEESON Talks Irish Indie Hit of the Year 'THE GUARD'

Brendan Gleeson recently sat down with Movies.ie & discussed his recent Irish Indie effort in John Michael McDonagh's excellent The Guard. The actor plays Sergent Gerry Boyle, a jaded small-town police chief. Gleeson blends a mix wit, cynicism, tenderness and secret loneliness into a character that is best described by Don Cheedle who plays a new recruit in the film as as "either the dumbest or smartest guy he knows." The Guard begins its international screen run in Ireland this July 7th. Hit the jump for the details.
