Russell Crowe is Superman's Dad! The Australian actor is set to play Superman's biological father Jor-El in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Variety report that the actor is in advanced negations. Warner have yet to issue a formal statement or comment on the casting, but should the announcement be made official Crowe will join Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon & Antje Traue in the new movie which hits theaters late 2012. Christopher Nolan, Charles Roven, Emma Thomas & Deborah Snyder are producing. Marlon Brando played the role in the 1978 Richard Donner-directed classic.
