PAUL GREENGRASS To Direct TOM HANKS In Untitled Somali Pirate Movie For Colombia Pictures


It seems somebody is finally making a real Pirate movie. Paul Greengrass has been offered the directors chair to Columbia Picture's yet untitled adapation of the harrowing true-life ordeal of Captain Richard Phillips. Deadline report that Greengrass will team up with Tom Hanks who is set to play Phillips who was the captain of the MV Maersk Alabama which back in 2009, was hijacked by a bunch of rude Somali pirates. The brave Captain offered himself as a hostage to protect his crew and spent three days a prisoner before being rescued by a team of U.S. Navy Seals. Hurray! Billy Ray wrote the script and the movie is being produced by Dan Brunetti, Michael De Luca, Scott Rudin and Kevin SpaceyColumbia will release the movie in 2013.
