TOM CRUISE Signs On To Star in $100 Million Sci-Fi Behemoth "OBLIVION" At Universal!

Tom Cruise has according to Deadline signed on to star in Joseph Kosinksi's titanic sci-fi project: Oblivion [or Horizons depending on where you work] which has found a new home at Universal after Disney politely allowed the project to move. Cruise will play "a soldier [Jak] who’s stuck alone on the planet, repairing the drones that patrol and destroy a savage alien life form. He encounters a beautiful woman who crashes in a craft, and their experience together forces him to question his world view" in a future where humanity lives in the clouds, thanks to an irradiated Earth. Disney had originally acquired the graphic novel in an auction last summer and Universal was one of the studios that also pushed to get its hands on the rights. Production on the project is slated to start this October with a $100 million budget and an aim for a PG-13 rating.
