Screenwriter Scott Frank [Minority Report] is being lined up to pen a screenplay for Columbia Pictures' Houdini. A movie based on the famous escape artist and magician. Director Francis Lawrence [I Am Legend] has been attached to the project since March and now THR reports that Lawrence and Frank will team up to create a "grounded vision of the legendary escape artist". Jimmy Miller is producing via his Mosaic Media. The movie "sees Houdini striving to expose a troubled, beautiful spiritualist as a fraud." Other Studios are developing their own Houdini projects as several are in development. As well as Columbia’s Houdini, DreamWorks have acquired the rights to J. Michael Straczynski’s Houdini /Sir Arthur Conan Doyle script Voices from the Dead back in February. Summit have also hired Noah Oppenheim to adapt William Kalush’s book The Secret Life of Houdini.
