Director Kathryn Bigelow was last year linked to re-team with The Hurt Locker Oscar-winning writer/ producer Mark Boal for an unspecified thriller based upon a team of Black Ops soldiers. Today Variety reveal that the project is in fact based on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden and is now being updated to incorporate the recent events of his death. Hit the jump for the details.
The movie was previously planned as a small scale project designed to come before Bigelow's upcoming "massive ensemble", Triple Frontier. Boal had been writing the script based on the actual Navy Seals team who tracked down and killed the Al Qaeda leader and the writer now plans to rewrite the script to include the raid on the compound in Pakistan where Bin Laden was shot dead. Casting for the hard-hitting movie is underway and Bigelow is expected to start shooting this summer.
