The trailer for Julia Leigh's dark erotic revision of the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty has been released. The filmmaker is relatively new, but a well-established author best known as the writer of the novel The Hunter. Leigh's screenplay for Sleeping Beauty was on the 2008 Black List. The film was originally being developed with Mia Wasikowska set to star in the project but the actress opted out and Emily Browning stepped in similar to how she did with Sucker Punch. The movie tells a story of a haunting erotic fairy tale about Browning's "Lucy", a student who drifts into prostitution and finds her niche as a woman who sleeps, drugged, in a "Sleeping Beauty chamber" while men do to her what she can't remember the next morning. Hit the jump for the details.
Browning is no stranger to sex scenes, she had one with John Hamm in Sucker Punch, though it was edited down due to demands by the MPAA. The director has another film set to be released this year. An adaptation of The Hunter, which is directed by Daniel Nettheim & stars Willem Dafoe, Frances O'Connor and Sam Neill.
