UNIVERSAL IN TALKS WITH DIRECTOR #2 BETTY THOMAS FOR [DESPERADOS] STARRING ISLA FISCHER


THR are reporting that director Betty Thomas [Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel] has entered talks with Universal to direct Desperados. Director Wayne McClammy [The Sarah Silverman Program] was previously linked to helm the comedy but opted out over creative differences. Thomas would be directing Isla Fischer who is attached to star. The film is been set up as the female version of The Hangover. The plot follows a lovelorn woman who, when her new man fails to get in contact after they sleep together, sends him a furious email. She then discovers that he’s in a coma in a Mexican hospital, and gathers her friends to head south and prevent him from reading her message. The screenplay was written by Ellen RapoportMark Gordon, Jason Blum and Jennifer Todd will be producing.
