Danish director Lars Von Trier's next film is set to be The Nymphomaniac. Little is known about the project other than the film will explore a woman’s "erotic birth," albeit as a metaphor. The director told ScreenDaily:
"I’m thinking of making a film about a woman’s erotic birth, a woman who discovers her eroticism. The working title is The Nymphomaniac."
He continues:
"I had two titles that I put to my business partner Peter Aalbæk Jensen. One was The Nymphomaniac, the other was Dirt in Bedsores. I asked him which one he thought was the most commercial. He said that with a title like The Nymphomaniac, the film would already be financed."
And I thought he was ready to get into Black romantic comedies. Well you got at least appreciate his honesty, his current film Melanchiolia, demonstrates individuals’ reactions to the end of the world and is set to hit Cannes 2011. Its all well making controversial films for the sake of it, but Von Trier lacks the dexterity and range of Pier Paolo Pasolini he so wants to harbor, but saying that its worth checking out Von Trier's The Idiots [1998], magic.
