This week news broke that actress Juno Temple [Juno, Atonement] was linked to Christopher Nolan's Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, Variety stated "Juno Temple is being eyed for a supporting role as a street-smart Gotham girl", pretty anonymous right? Well now rumors are circulating that Nolan is taking a leaf out of Frank Miller's highly influential Batman: The Dark Knight Rises by introducing a female Robin. Hit the jump for the details.
AICN reported the same story as follows: "The same story in Variety suggests 21-year-old British actress Juno Temple [Year One, Greenberg] is being sought to play a “street-smart Gotham girl.” When we last saw Barbara “Batgirl” Gordon she was still pretty tiny, so my suspicion is they might be casting something akin to a female Robin" The idea is pretty stretched but by no means rule it out. Temple is a very specific and quirky looking actress, almost fragile and certainly not the usual vacant eye candy that adorns franchises such as these, the casting process at this point is for primary characters and I don't see Nolan giving Temple a bit-part. In Miller's The Dark Knight Returns "Carrie Kelly" a 13-year-old girl becomes Robin. Other roles that have been suggested are "Stephanie Brown", who briefly substituted the Robin "Tim Drake" and Catwoman's "street-smart" sidekick "Holly Robinson."
