Jane Fonda stated in a recent interview with WENN [reported by New Zealand's 3news] that she is considering reviving her cult sci-fi movie character Barbarella for a sequel to the 1968 original. She even stated that she has an idea for the story:
"I have a dream to do a sequel to Barbarella. Not a remake, a sequel! Look, I get shtupped (has sex) by a blind angel, OK? Let's just take it from there... I think it could be funny - and feminist."
Why Blind? Thats the first question that comes to my mind, maybe Fonda is seriously considering reprising the role herself. I think a little controversial dream analysis is necessary here. In the original its revealed people on Earth no longer have penetrative intercourse, but make love by consuming Exaultation Transference Pills and place their palms together palms together when their "psychocardiograms are in perfect harmony." Now Barbarella does get "shtupped" in the Original. The Angel? Feminism? Throw that stuff out the window, we need three acts and some gratuitous lovemaking /and or tits. Robert Rodriguez did previously board a remake project back in 2007 that fell apart and more recently Anne Hathaway was attached to a reprisal of the character. The original film was directed by Roger Vadim, Fonda's then-husband.
