Viggo Mortensen is currently in talks with Universal as the male lead, The Huntsman in Snow White and the Huntsman. The reboot sees the character take a more prolific role as Snow White's mentor and protector. Michael Fassbender's name has also been linked to the project but today it emerged that Fassbender has joined Ridley Scott's Prometheus. Johhny Depp had also been previously linked. Charlize Theron is labelled as the frontrunner to play the evil queen despite also being attached to Prometheus. Mortensen had been the outsiders favorite to land the lead role in Ron Howard's The Dark Tower film adaptation. But the role of cowboy Roland Deschain in The Dark Tower will effectively not be played by Mortensen if he commits to Snow White.
