Javier Bardem has been offered the lead role in the big screen adaption of Stephen King’s epic series The Dark Tower. Director Ron Howard wants the Spanish star to play gunslinger Roland Deschain in the multi-part adaptation. Deadline state that formal negotiations have not yet begun, but Bardem has nonetheless “officially been offered the lead role.” The Spanish actor’s name was first mentioned as a possible candidate some weeks ago, and now it appears that the role is his to accept or reject. Its an interesting choice, Viggo Mortensen and Christian Bale had both been linked, but inside rumblings suggest Bardem is the one they really want.
