Gemma Arterton will be joining Jeremy Renner in Gary Sanchez’s Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters according to THR. Arterton will reportedly play Gretel, the sister of Renner’s Hansel based on the Grimm fairytale. Diane Kruger [Inglourious Bastards] and Eva Green [Casino Royale] are also attached to the film. Renner himself said in September that Noomi Rapace [The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo] would star alongside him, although it seems now Arterton has landed that role. Director Tommy Wirkola [Dead Snow] is scheduled to begin shooting the project in Berlin March 7. In this incarnation of the famous story, Arterton and Renner will be playing older versions of the characters. This take is set 15 years after the siblings killed the witch who kidnapped them. Hansel and Gretel have now evolved into bounty hunters who pursue witches.
