Marvel's decision to cast black actor Idris Elba in the role of Heimdel has not gone down too well with a certain "Council of Conservative Citizens" group in the states. These fundamentalists are a little vexed because Elba will portray the originally drawn white skinned Norse God Heimdel in the upcoming Thor Movie.
The group released the following statement through their website:
"It’s not enough that Marvel attacks conservatives values, now mythological Gods must be re-invented with black skin, It seems that Marvel Studios believes that white people should have nothing that is unique to themselves. Marvel has taken their anti-white, radical campaign even further. They cast a black man as a Norse Deity."
The Council, which insists “the American people and government should remain European in their composition and character,” has now organized an online boycott of Thor and Marvel and their page links to a Boycott Thor website. Speaking about his casting earlier in the year Elba stated:
“Thor’s mythical, right? Thor has a hammer that flies to him when he clicks his fingers. That’s OK, but the color of my skin is wrong?”
