GEORGE CLOONEY REPLACES ROBERT DOWNEY JUNIOR IN [GRAVITY]

George Clooney has replaced Robert Downey Junior and secured the male lead in Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity. The film, a science fiction story about astronauts trapped in space has already had high profile actors turn the project down. Thus far Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, and Angelina Jolie have all said no. More recently Sandra Bullock has been attached for the lead. Clooney's part was long-connected to Robert Downey Jr, but the Iron Man star had recently stepped out of negotiations. Cuarón, who directed Children of Men and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, is expected to begin production on Gravity soon, aiming to shoot and release in 3D. Clooney's last foray into sci-fi was at the hands of Steven Soderberg's 2002 Solaris and received much praise for his performance. I like Clooney in space.
