Earlier this year, rumors emerged that Marvel were planning to kill off Spiderman in an upcoming comic. Peter Parker to be precise would be no more. Another would step into frame and take his place, a new, fresh Spiderman 2.0. Now it seems there’s some truth to the rumor. Marvel have just released the cover for their February 2011 Preview magazine to promote the next batch of upcoming Amazing Spider-Man comics. Spiderman will reportedly succumb to his death in Feb 2011. In 2005, Peter Parker/Spider-Man died for one issue. Morlun killed Parker, but then a new Peter Parker emerged from the old corpse, now more fully embracing his “other” self, his spider personae. Retaining his stingers, he discovered other new abilities including night vision, greater control of his skin adhesive properties, and enhanced sensory perceptions, such as being able to sense the vibrations traveling through his webline. Tony Stark ended up building Peter Parker 2.0 a new technologically-advanced suit but now his fate seems sealed. Comparisons are being drawn to Jason Todd/ Robin and Ryan Choi/ The Atom.
