COLIN FARRELL OFFERED [TOTAL RECALL]

Len Wiseman [Live Free or Die Hard] is on course to tackle a remake of the Philip K. Dick short story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale, better known as Total Recall. According to Variety, Sony has offered the lead role to Colin Farrell, suggesting Wiseman and the studio are planning a decidedly different take on Dick’s original concept. Farrell has been previously rumored for the role along with Tom Hardy [Inception] and Michael Fassbender [Inglorious Bastards]. The Irish actor previously appeared in Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report which was based on the Philip K. Dick story The Minority Report.
Dick's work has been pillaged by Hollywood for decades, films like Bladerunner, A Scanner Darkly, & Next [2007] all originate from Dick's stories. Most recently Ridley Scott has been attached to remaking Dick's, The Man in the High Castle.

Paul Verhoeven's original take [Total Recall] starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, along with Sharon Stone. The 1990 film was a critical and box office success, and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects [Special Achievement Award].
