CHRISTIAN BALE OPENS UP ON [BATMAN:THE DARK KNIGHT RISES]

Christian Bale recently sat down with MTV and discussed his feelings toward the upcoming Batman: The Dark knight Rises. The film is set to be the final chapter in the current franchise. Bale stated this was his last Batman but ultimately that was up to Christopher Nolan.

On working against Tom Hardy:

"Sounds good. I liked him in 'Inception' and I did see 'Bronson' as well. He seems like he's a balls-out actor."

On it being the final Batman film in the current franchise:

"I think so. That's up to Chris. That was always what the discussion was. But you know, if Chris says, 'I see another story here,' then we'll be up for it. But in my mind, I'm expecting this will be it." "Until Chris Nolan tells me there will be a Batman 4, I don't believe it. It's gotta be from his mouth, or else I don't really know."

On returning to the role in twenty years to play Frank Miller's legendary aged Batman in The Dark Knight Returns.

"It would not be bad." Maybe, but you need that break"

On the The Dark Knight Rises storyline:

"Chris will let me know what I need to know when I need to know it. I probably know a little bit more than some other people out there, but I think most people would be surprised at how little I do know. It just hasn't been necessary yet. I know he'll give me plenty of time to prepare for whatever I need to, and I'll discover it. He's a pretty damn good filmmaker. I trust that he's going to come up with something wonderful."

Production to expected to begin in May 2011. Recently we reported that Batman: The Dark Knight Rises would in fact be based on Doug Moench's Prey. Nolan has yet to announce any further casting since Tom Hardy who is expected to play Doctor Hugo Strange. Updates as they happen.
