Dianna Agron [Glee] and Irish actress Dominique
McElligott [Leap Year/Moon] are the latest two additions to the short list for the
female lead in Marc Webb’s Spiderman 3D reboot, reports Deadline, which also includes a rumor that Phillip Seymour Hoffman may be up for the part of Venom.
The current SpiderMan candidates
now includes Mia Wasikowska [Alice in Wonderland] Lily Collins [Priest], Ophelia Lovibond [Nowhere Boy], Imogen
Poots [28 Weeks Later], Teresa Palmer [The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, I Am Number Four] and
Emma Roberts [Valentine’s Day].
The Hoffman-as-Venom rumor is admittedly "way out there". In the “Ultimate
Spider-Man” comics, Venom is a scientific creation of Eddie Brock’s father who,
working with Peter Parker’s father, created the suit in an attempt to cure
cancer. Though it’s pure speculation at this stage, it could be the elder Brock
that Hoffman is in talks for.
