HAS [DAMON LINDELOF] KILLED THE [ALIEN] FRANCHISE?

I got this news late last night and on the face of it, what seems good for Fox is bad for Ridley Scott. In July it was announced that Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof would be re-writing Jon Spaiths script for Scott’s upcoming Alien prequels. Vulture reported that Lindelof turned in his first draft on saturday and the execs/ hounds of hell over at Fox love it:). Part of the reason they like it so much is that it doesn’t add "expensive set pieces" but remains “creatively engaging” and that my friends sounds pretty horrific. They’re also happy that that "script" keeps the project at a PG-13 rating. I like Lindelof but its hard to see him in any other light right now other than the antichrist.

What the hell are Colonial Space Marines doing in an Alien prequel script? Its been over a week since Scott's spat with Fox became public knowledge over rating criteria and budget factors and today it looks like Lindelof gave Fox what it wanted so now the ball is in Scotts side of the court. Also according to Vulture, Natalie Portman is Fox’s top choice to play the role of a female Colonial Marine general. The second choice for the role is Noomi Rapace, who we discussed way back, the star in the original version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Ultimately this move may will resut in Scott departing from the project unless Fox step back. To support Ridley Scott retaining creative control of the prequels we have created a group which hopes to garner enough support to approach Fox and Scott.
